Liz and Scott Miller

Liz Miller is a specialist in oboe and English horn. An orchestral and chamber music performer, Liz earned her Master of Music and Bachelor of Music degrees at Louisiana State University. Liz has held positions as Principal Oboist for the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, Opera Louisiane, and for the Louisiana Sinfonietta, and served as Second Oboe/English Horn for the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra. Her teachers have included Johanna Cox, James Ryon, and Doug Bairstow. Elizabeth has appeared as a soloist with the Louisiana Sinfonietta and the Mennonite Bretheren Collegiate Institute.

Scott Miller is an active orchestral and chamber performer, regularly appearing with ensembles in the region including the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, Manitoba Chamber Orchestra, Little Opera Company, Manitoba Underground Opera, and the Royal Canadian Air Force Band, 17 Wing. Scott has held positions as Principal Bassoonist for the Monroe Symphony Orchestra, the Louisiana Sinfonietta and Opera Louisiane, Associate Principal Bassoonist for the Gulf Coast Symphony Orchestra and Second Bassoonist for the Acadiana Symphony Orchestra. Scott has appeared as a soloist at the Twisted Oaks Music Festival, as well as with the Magnolia Chamber Orchestra and with the Louisiana Sinfonietta. He has served as Adjunct Instructor of Bassoon at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA and at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette.
Scott received the degree Doctor of Musical Arts from Louisiana State University in 2011. He holds degrees in music from the University of Oregon (MM) and Florida State University (BM). He has studied bassoon with Gabriel Beavers, Steve Vacchi, Jeff Keesecker, Randy Doo, and Kim Woolly.  Scott is a member of the Manitoba Registered Music Teachers Association, and an adjudicator for the Associated Manitoba Arts Festivals.
